The Luxor opened at 4 AM on October 13, 1993, to a crowd of 10,000 people. When it opened, the pyramid, which cost $375 million to build, was the tallest building on the strip. In 1952, The Sahara Hotel was built as the 6th resort to open on the Strip. The resort was built by Del Webb. The Sahara Hotel will always hold a special place in my heart since this was the hotel which my father worked at for several years during the 1950s and 1960s. During my childhood summer vacations this is where we would stay when visiting Las Vegas. I also always love hearing about the days when my father worked there and saw Elvis, Don Rickles, and others. Unfortunately, The Sahara is now called SLS which we agree with Neon Museum that it stands for (Should be Left Sahara). This Egyptian theme comes complete with Lights, Music, Decor, and even a Free Gift! Since Themed Transportation is a new service to Las Vegas, reservations fill up quickly so Contact Us Today by using the form below.
